The Bisexual, Lesbian, and Gay Organization of Students at Howard (BLAGOSAH) is hoping to send its Vice-President, Chris Newsome, to Miami-Dade County Florida to fight the repeal of their 1998 gay rights amendment. The Christian Coalition is targeting African-American voters, trying to persuade them vote to repeal the gay rights amendment on September 10th. The Christian Coalition is telling these voters that the gay rights amendment undermines the civil rights of African-Americans and endangers the well-being of children in Miami-Dade County. Of course, this is untrue. That is why BLAGOSAH wants to send Chris, an articulate, openly gay African-American student, to assist in canvassing the county and convincing voters to protect the gay rights amendment. However, sending Chris to Florida from September 7th - 10th will take money that BLAGOSAH does not have. Therefore, I am appealing to GLAA for a donation to help defray Chris' travel and lodging expenses. It is clear from its work that GLAA is passionate about protecting civil and human rights. In keeping with that passion, I hope that you will be willing to donate to this effort.
